For the past several months, Milc has been testing and refining a range of robotic welding technologies as part of its ongoing industrial development.
Since May, following specialist training at Yaskawa France, our welders have been working alongside our new welding robot using the “teach” programming method, in which the robot is guided directly through the required welding path.
This milestone was made possible thanks to DEALS, a local manufacturer of towing accessories, which entrusted us with the production of 800 tubular rolling chassis.
The project has enabled us to deploy our full industrialisation process, including ERP integration, the design and validation of robotic welding fixtures, and the implementation of a production flow covering more than 15,000 individual components.
Scaling up through robotic welding, from a prototype-focused development company to an industrial manufacturer capable of medium-volume production, has been a key objective for Milc ever since we were selected as one of the laureates of the first call for proposals “Bicycle Industry” led by the ADEME, as part of the France 2030 project.
We continue to invest in our manufacturing capabilities while strengthening our expertise in robotic welding, particularly through the support of our partner Composite Adour, a member of the CycLocal consortium.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Justin Linon, who is completing his engineering apprenticeship at Milc and has made a significant contribution to this project. We wish him every success as he pursues his International Welding Specialist (IWS) qualification.
This successful first step in the robotisation of our production marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Milc, with many more developments already in the pipeline. Stay tuned!
